Target Outline

Just to reiterate my objectives for the rest of the semester...

There are two series in progress: ponds and terrariums, all currently untitled.  By the end of Spring, I'd like to have one complete pond.  The ranks of terrariums should grow by at least two a week.  Every chance I get, I've been collecting supplies wherever I can...this includes dead things.  Free is good.

My final Spring installation will feature my works in progress.  Picture a cabinet of curiosities of sorts.  The proposal will be submitted to our local VIZA GOGO crew for review by April 18th.

Accompanying the installation will be a version of my professional packet that I've been developing in Professional Practice for Visualization.  It is currently being reviewed and edited.  Corrections and a reprint will be made in time for the show.  If the money can be found, I'd like to include small stylized kits for attendees.

I've recently been on the hunt for artist residency programs.  There are a few that are willing to host emerging artists.  My first application will go out to the Artist & Environmental Scientist Program offered by the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology in Oregon.  Application fees are required, and I hope to apply to as many as my wallet allows.

Parallel to this search is my pursuit to gain approval for the fulfillment of my degree plan with an artist in residence program in place of an industry oriented internship.  Encouraged by Lecturer Krista Steinke, I've taken it up with professors on my committee, and have just approached Frederic Parke, our Visualization Sciences Program Coordinator, with the idea.  He seems in favor and will bring it up in the next MFA committee meeting...Wonder if he'll make me attend...that might be scary fun.

Future posts will touch on each of these targets in more detail.
